Gas Safety Certification
In 1996 the Government passed law that all Private Landlords have to make sure the gas supply and appliances they provide to their Tenants are safe.
Responsibilities of a Private Landlord
All private landlords have to have a valid Gas Safety Certificate for all the gas equipment in the accommodation they rent out. Gas Safety checks on all gas appliances must be carried out every 12 months.
What's the worst that could happen?
If the gas appliances are unsafe there could be a risk of fire, explosion or carbon monoxide poisoning.
Carbon monoxide gas is invisible and has no smell. It is very poisonous and can kill quickly. Symptons from carbon monoxide poisoning are such as headaches, nausea, chest pains, sudden faintness, erratic behaviour, diarrhoea or stomach pains.
If a gas leak is detected, call the gas emergency number immediately on 0800 111 999.
Mick Smith Heating and Plumbing Ltd are Gas Safe registered 135488 and licenced to carry out annual gas safety inspections and issue Landlords Gas Safety Certificates, on all domestic gas installations . We use the latest test equipment , combustion gas analysers , electronic gas leak detectors and carbon monoxide detectors.
Once the installation has passed the inspection you will be issued with two copies of your gas safety certificate , one copy for the Landlord / Agent and one copy for the Tenant.
